British photographer Ben McMillan is based in London where he is working on FACE IT 2015, a portrait series exploring the immigration debate. The project is inspired by his own experience living overseas, mainly in China, and his take on media coverage of the issue from outside the UK.

Ben studied Modern History at Edinburgh University, including a year on exchange to Queens University, Canada. He then worked as journalist in Singapore and South Africa, before moving to London to join the BBC World Service as a Broadcast Journalist. Over several years Ben worked at the core of BBC news before making the move to Beijing, and the switch from journalism to photography, in 2005.

Driven by a passion for story-telling, and to be present and witness history unfold, Ben's early work focused on urbanisation, and the pace and scale of change in China. At first a regular contributor to The Guardian and Observer, he went on to work across China and East Asia for editorial and commercial clients from around the world.

Ben's entrepreneurial spirit also led him to build a studio and equipment rental business, Beijing Photospace, launched after the 2008 Olympic Games. BPS went on to become a leading production house in China, supporting some of the most prolific photographers, producers and agencies in the industry. American Vogue, Sony Pictures International, Getty Images, Mercedes .... to name but a few.
